General FAQ’s

Are you really the best pooper scooper in the OKC metro?
We don’t like to brag, but when it comes to pet waste removal in Oklahoma City, our customers say we’re the top dogs in town. At Poop Free OKC, we’ve built a reputation for dependable, detail-oriented service that pet owners can trust.

Here’s what sets us apart:

  • We’re fully insured for your peace of mind.
  • We walk every yard twice to make sure nothing gets missed.
  • Every gate is double-checked, and we send a picture of your locked gate. Your pets’ safety comes first.
  • All tools and footwear are sanitized between every visit using a kennel-grade disinfectant.
  • Our technicians wear branded uniforms and arrive in clearly marked vehicles.
  • We’re proud to be locally owned—not a franchise—and we give back to the Oklahoma City community.
Are you a local business or part of a chain?

Poop Free OKC is locally owned and operated—born and raised in Oklahoma City. We’re not a franchise or national chain, just your neighbors offering dependable, friendly service.

Who would benefit from a professional poop scoop service?

If you’re tired of the mess, short on time, or want a cleaner yard without lifting a scoop, Poop Free OKC is here for you.

Our service is ideal for:

  • Families with kids who play outside deserve a safe, clean lawn
  • Homeowners who take pride in their yard, but not in picking up after their pups
  • Individuals with limited mobility or vision
  • Busy professionals who’d rather spend time enjoying their pets, not cleaning up after them

Beyond being a messy inconvenience, pet waste is a real health risk. It can carry harmful bacteria and parasites like E. coli, Salmonella, and roundworms that threaten the well-being of your family, pets, and even your local environment.

Let Poop Free OKC take care of the dirty work, so you can breathe easy and enjoy your backyard again.

Do I need to be home during service?

Nope! As long as we have access to your yard and any locked gates are unlocked, there’s no need for you to be home during your scheduled service. We’ll send a gate photo and service update once the job is complete, so you always know your yard was cleaned.

How often do you scoop my yard?

We offer twice-weekly, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and one-time pet waste removal services. You choose the frequency that works best for your yard and your pet’s habits.

What areas do you serve?

We proudly serve Oklahoma City and nearby neighborhoods throughout the metro, including Edmond, Moore, Yukon, Mustang, and more.

How do I start service?

It’s easy! Visit our website to get a quote and schedule your first cleanup. Regular service includes a free initial cleanup for new weekly or bi-weekly customers.

Is pet waste really a health risk?

Yes. Pet waste contains harmful bacteria and parasites that can spread to humans and other pets. It’s important to remove it regularly to maintain a healthy outdoor environment.

What happens if weather prevents service?

If severe weather delays your scheduled cleanup, we’ll make up the missed visit as soon as conditions allow. You won’t be charged until the service is completed.

Is your dog waste removal service available year-round?

Yes! Poop Free OKC provides dog waste removal year-round—even in winter. We continue service in all seasons, and most waste remains scoopable even during snowy conditions.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes! You can get instant upfront pricing online or contact us for a free quote based on your yard size and the number of dogs.

What steps do you take to ensure pet and property safety?

At Poop Free OKC, the safety of your pets and property is our top priority. We disinfect all equipment and footwear between each visit using a kennel-grade solution to prevent the spread of germs. Our team also takes a photo of your secured gate after every service for added peace of mind. For your trust and security, every employee undergoes a thorough background check before joining our team.

What if my pack grows—or shrinks?

Life changes, and so can your service! Whether you’re welcoming a new pup or saying goodbye to a furry friend, just let us know. We’ll update your account and adjust your pricing accordingly. Do you need to change your visit frequency, too? No problem.

To make changes, give us a call at (405) 967-9845 or fill out our contact form anytime—we’ll take care of the rest.

Am I locked into a long-term contract?

No contracts required! You’re free to start, pause, or cancel your service at any time through your customer portal or by contacting our office directly.

Should I unlock my gate?

Our techs are pros at scooping, not scaling fences. To ensure safe, smooth service, please unlock your gate on the day of your scheduled visit. We’ll make sure to lock it back when we’re done.

If your gate has a combination lock, you’re welcome to share the code with your technician—we’ll keep it secure and send a photo of the locked gate when we leave, so you know everything is buttoned up.

Do you offer service arrival windows?

We are unable to provide exact arrival times for our pooper scooper services. While we aim to accommodate special requests when possible, our routes are optimized the night before service to reduce drive time and keep costs affordable for all customers.

What’s the cost of professional pooper scooper service in OKC?

Poop Free OKC offers pooper scooper service packages starting at just $60 per month. Final pricing depends on your yard size, service frequency, and number of dogs. Most of our customers pay between $95 and $135 per month for reliable, dependable, hassle-free cleanup.

Is it okay if my dog is in the yard during cleanup?

Yes, we’re happy to clean with your dog in the yard! However, if your dog has shown signs of aggression, we kindly request that it be kept indoors during the service. The safety of our team is a top priority. If a pet poses a safety risk, we may require that it remain inside or, in some cases, remove the property from our service route.

What if my dog is aggressive and doesn't like strangers?

Only if your pup prefers privacy or has a flair for the dramatic.

At Poop Free OKC, we love all dogs, but safety comes first for our team. If your dog is especially protective, nervous around strangers, or shows signs of aggression, we kindly ask that you bring them inside or secure them while we’re working in your yard.

Our technician will send a courtesy text or call before arrival and may knock to make sure everyone’s aware we’re on-site. If no one is home and your dog is loose in the yard, we’ll skip that visit for safety reasons and add an extra scoop to our next scheduled service.

Thanks for helping us keep the experience safe, smooth, and poop-free!

Do you clean the entire yard?

Poop Free OKC cleans all areas of your property where dog waste may be present—including front, back, and side yards, flower beds, dog runs, and more. If your dog goes there, we scoop it.

Am I able to request a specific scooping day?

Yes, you can request a preferred service day. While availability may vary by area, Poop Free OKC typically offers 2–3 scheduling options to help find a time that works best for you.

Do you scoop poop in the winter?

When winter rolls in, Poop Free OKC doesn’t back down—we’re still out there fighting the good fight against frozen poop piles.

If weather conditions get severe (ice or deep snow), expect a short delay, typically no more than a day or two. If there’s snow on the ground, our team will still clean off patios, decks, and any accessible areas where poop is visible or snow has melted. We aim to prevent waste from accumulating, no matter the weather.

If a significant storm forces us to skip your yard entirely, we’ll return on your next scheduled visit and handle any extra waste at no additional cost.

Please note:

  • Even if your service day isn’t directly impacted by snow or ice, your technician’s route may be adjusted.
  • We’ll always keep you informed if there’s a change to your schedule.
  • Your monthly rate stays the same, even when extra cleanup is needed.

Cold weather, warm service—that’s how we roll in OKC.

Is your deodorizer safe for kids and pets?

Yes. Our Yard Odor Neutralizer is non-toxic, biodegradable, and safe for people, pets, and plants. It breaks down odor-causing bacteria without harsh chemicals or artificial scents.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dog Poop FAQ’s

How often should dog poop be picked up from my yard?

Ideally, at least once a week—but more often if you have multiple dogs. Regular removal keeps your yard clean, odor-free, and safe for both pets and people.

Is dog waste a good fertilizer?

No. Unlike cow or horse manure, dog waste is high in protein and contains bacteria and parasites that are harmful to humans and plants. It should never be used in gardens, especially those that grow food.

Is dog poop really bad for the environment?

Yes! Unlike cow manure, dog waste is high in protein and can carry harmful bacteria and parasites. It’s not a fertilizer—it’s a pollutant that can contaminate soil and water.

Can I just mow over the dog poop?

Please don’t. Mowing over poop spreads bacteria, ruins your lawn equipment, and turns your yard into a literal biohazard zone.

What is the best way to dispose of dog poop?

The safest and most environmentally responsible way is to bag it in a biodegradable or regular plastic bag and place it in your trash. Poop Free OKC also offers professional removal and disposal that complies with all local sanitation guidelines.

Why does my dog’s poop smell so bad?

Dog waste contains volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and bacteria that release gases like ammonia and hydrogen sulfide—aka the “stink.” Diet, health, and hydration can also affect odor.

What diseases can dog poop carry?

Dog feces can harbor E. coli, Salmonella, Giardia, roundworms, and parvovirus, among others. Regular cleanup helps protect your family and pets from exposure.

Can dog poop be composted?

Technically, yes, but it must be done very carefully. Dog waste can be composted in a dedicated system away from food gardens, using high temperatures to kill pathogens. For most homeowners, this method isn’t practical or safe without proper tools and monitoring.

Is white dog poop still a thing?

It used to be more common when dogs ate more calcium-rich diets. Today, it’s rare, but if you see chalky white poop, it’s usually dried out or a sign of too much calcium.

How long does dog poop take to decompose?

It can take up to a year, depending on the weather and soil. During that time, it can contaminate groundwater and attract pests.

How much does my dog poop?

The average dog poops 1–3 times per day, depending on their size, diet, and health. Over a year, that adds up to hundreds of pounds of waste per dog, which is why regular cleanup is so important for health and hygiene.

Does rain wash away dog poop?

Rain may break it down, but it also spreads bacteria into the soil and nearby waterways. Rainy days don’t cancel cleanups—they make them even more critical.

Can dog poop attract rodents or insects?

Yes. Leftover poop can draw flies, beetles, and even rats, mainly if it accumulates. Routine scooping keeps pests at bay.

Can I teach my dog to clean up after themselves?

As much as we’d love that, your pup isn’t quite ready to join the cleanup crew. Until dogs develop thumbs and a sense of responsibility, we’re here to handle the dirty work for you.

What’s the best way to get rid of dog poop smells?

Regular scooping paired with a pet-safe deodorizer (like our Yard Odor Neutralizer!) keeps your yard smelling clean and fresh—no perfumes, enzyme-powered freshness.

What are in-ground waste digesters?

In-ground waste digesters are small, buried systems designed to break down pet waste using natural enzymes and water. They work like mini septic tanks and can be a low-maintenance disposal option, though they require proper installation and maintenance and may not work well in clay-heavy or cold Oklahoma soils.
